NDIS Worker Orientation Module

The Worker Orientation Module called ‘Quality, Safety and You’ is a mandatory, free online course by the NDIS Quality Safeguards Commission, that teaches NDIS workers their responsibilities focusing on a participant-centred approach to delivering safe, respectful, and high-quality services.

"This module is an interactive online course that explains the obligations of workers under the NDIS Code of Conduct – from the perspective of real NDIS participants." It was developed in consultation with the sector, including NDIS providers and people with a disability to teach workers about human rights, respectful communication, and risk management to ensure quality, safe, and high-quality support for people with disability.

The module will help you to understand:

How the NDIS works and the role of the NDIS Commission

Your obligations under the NDIS Code of Conduct

Your role in achieving the vision of the NDIS.

NDIS Induction Module

The NDIS New Worker Induction Module, is a free online training course provided by the NDIS Quality Safeguards Commission, for new and existing NDIS workers to understand their responsibilities under the NDIS Code of Conduct and provide high-quality, respectful, and safe support to NDIS participants.

"It is made up of a series of eight online modules that provide new workers with specific information they need to start working in the disability sector.

These are:

Disability awareness

Privacy and confidentiality

Safe workplace

NDIS Code of Conduct and Dignity of risk

Incident management

Know the person

Risk identification and management 

Managing challenging situations"

Before starting this module, you should complete the 'Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You’ module.

Supporting Effective Communication

The Supporting Effective Communication Module, by the NDIS Quality Safeguards Commission, is an online learning module for NDIS workers focused on how to communicate with people with disability who have complex communication needs.

It highlights communication as a human right, emphasising that effective communication enables NDIS participants to exercise choice and control over their lives. The module provides practical guidance to help workers better understand and support diverse communication methods, ultimately improving safety and quality of services within the NDIS.

Supporting Safe and Enjoyable Meals

The Supporting Safe and Enjoyable Meals module is a free online learning resource from the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission for NDIS workers, covering how to support people with disabilities during mealtimes safely and with dignity.

The module helps NDIS workers meet their obligations under the NDIS Code of Conduct by ensuring they provide competent, safe, and person-centred mealtime support. It is a foundational resource for anyone working in the disability sector who provides mealtime assistance, and it aims to improve participants' quality of life by promoting enjoyable, nutritious meals and preventing serious health problems like choking.

It teaches practical skills, including: 

Mealtime assistance and Mealtime Plans

Identifying and responding to swallowing difficulties (dysphagia)

Planning for appropriate food textures and meals

Correct mealtime positioning

Using assistive technology

Reducing the risks associated with eating and drinking

Induction Module

This program of New Worker - NDIS Induction Modules has been developed to support providers to induct new staff ... who may not be familiar with the disability sector.

It is made up of a series of eight online modules that provide new workers with specific information they need to start working in the disability sector.
